Aerials North: From 400 feet
Aerials North is Artless Collective's drone unit: aerial filming, inspection and monitoring flights across the North.
Aerials North has moved here, to Artless Collective's site. Same pilots, same email.
What we fly for
Film and commercials
Aerial cinematography for productions shooting in the North, and for northern businesses that want the land in their spot. We fly in some of the coldest, most remote country there is, and the pilots are cinematographers too.
Inspection and monitoring
Repeatable flights that show a site as it is and how it changes. In 2024 we flew seven aerial monitoring films of the Giant Mine site outside Yellowknife: the pits, the ponds, Baker Creek, the townsite and the shoreline.
Beyond visual line of sight
Some sites are too long or too remote to keep a drone in view: shorelines, roads, trails and work camps. Under a Level 1 Complex certificate and our RPAS Operator Certificate, we can fly beyond visual line of sight over unpopulated and sparsely populated land, in uncontrolled airspace below 400 feet.
Certificates and insurance
- Pilot certificates
- Transport Canada certificates for Advanced Operations and Level 1 Complex Operations, under the drone rules in force since November 4, 2025.
- RPAS Operator Certificate
- Our RPOC, which lower-risk flights beyond visual line of sight need.
- Special flight operations
- A Special Flight Operations Certificate when a job needs one, such as an advertised event or a higher altitude.
- Insurance
- Liability insurance specific to drone operations, on every flight.
Every job is planned the way commercial flying is: a flight plan filed with the right authorities, and emergency measures in place before we take off.
